Listen To Your Mother
Artist: Chris Bullinger
Title: Peace Bomb
Genre: LRK
Play: “Caution Wind Throw”
CAN’T PLAY: FCC Clean
Comments: This is basically your angry, self-righteous, liberal dad’s blues band. Sounds stylistically like 70’s rock. I can hear a lot of influence from Squeeze, The Allman Brothers, Derek and the Dominos, and a teensy bit of Counting Crows and Santana (Lonely Soul). 95% of the lyrics are either stupid and ham-handed political/social-commentary, cliché, or just dumb. The singer sounds like a combination of Lou Reed, the singer of They Might Be Giants, the singer of Why?, and a hint of Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. He doesn’t use his voice very well. The instrumentals are actually pretty good, containing bluesy, garage-y guitar, B-3, bass, and drums, but they fall into all the clichés and it gets pretty tired pretty quickly. I can hear the mildest of punk/metal influence. Besides the playing itself, the recordings aren’t terribly well mixed. Overall it’s a pretty mediocre affair. I wouldn’t really recommend it.
